Bula from Fiji…!

Today the students completed three hotel inspections on the Coral Coast; The Warwick Fiji, The Naviti Resort and Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji. These hotels are all popular with the Australian leisure market and it was great for the students to see the resort facilities and the different room types available at each property. From welcome drinks, to shell leis and a warrior escort to reception – the hospitality shown by Management and Staff at each hotel has just been wonderful.

T-minus 2 days until Fiji…

With all tickets, travel documents and crew t-shirts handed out, Travel is ready to go to Fiji and Sunday can’t come fast enough! Plus we get to escape this Melbourne cold for a week! 🙂 Stay tuned and watch this space next week as we blog from sunny Fiji…

All students have gained the necessary skill and confidences to one day; complete a wet Drill Assessment during ground school of a major commercial airline. Thank you Peter for coming in to the Travel class today to discuss social and cultural aspects of Vanuatu. There is no doubt that the students got a lot out of today’s session which will come in handy when selling Vanuatu in the future.

Aviation takes off!

On Wednesday the 22nd of April 2015, the Certificate III in Aviation (Flight Operations) students went on their first Inflight Excursion to Adelaide on Jetstar Flight JQ 776.  This excursion gave the students the opportunity to experience the day in a life of a Flight Attendant.  To consolidate what they have learnt so far in class with what actually happens on board an aircraft.Continue reading

Travel are packing their bags – BULA FIJI!

Our Travel students are now full steam ahead! With less than 2 months left of the course, they are experiencing the wonderful world of travel through their classroom units, guests speakers and industry site visits.

But they are all very excited to be heading off to Fiji in 2 weeks time! On their student educational trip, they will be doing a mix of activities that involve both sun and school. With hotels inspections, touring and exploring the Coral Coast, Nadi and Port Denarau and island hopping over to Mana – the students will be in for a full packed week that will arm them with valuable industry and product knowledge that can be used in industry!

Future Natural Heritage Guides

As the breeze was beginning to cool, the birds were having their last say for the day, and the leaves of the giant Mountain Ash rustling to welcome the night and the many creatures it would encourage to come out and about the students took their places adjacent to the large Alpine Ash armed with note books, pencils and eyes adjusted and ears attuned to the dusk and approaching night.Continue reading

Marketing Strategy session at Melbourne Star

The Marketing Strategy session with Melbourne Star Marketing Manager, Tracey Hore provided the Advanced Diploma of Tourism students the opportunity to discuss the current marketing strategy of Melbourne’s iconic Melbourne Star Observational Wheel. Tracey highlighted the importance of an integrated marketing approach across a number of marketing channels including digital, print, social media, broadcast and partnerships to communicate with our customers.
